The volunteers of the WCFD responded to many incidents last evening and into the early hours of this morning. Numerous water rescues were performed by Boat and Rescue crews throughout the greater West Chester area and beyond. Crews from Station 53 assisted Station 2 (Berwyn Fire Company) with a complex technical swift water rescue in Valley Forge National Park while additional Station 53 crews performed boat based rescues along the Brandywine River near Rt. 842. Below are two of those incidents along with assorted pictures from other incidents.
West Goshen Township, PA - September 2, 2021
On September 1, 2021 at approximately 10:48 PM, WCFD units along with Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute were alerted for a tree that fell on a house with a resident trapped inside.
Units arrived on-scene and quickly alerted the Chester County Rescue Task Force to assist with the rescue.
The resident was quickly rescued and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Downingtown Borough, PA - September 2nd, 2021
This morning First West Chester Fire Co., Engine Co. 51 crews traveled with ATV 51 to assist the Downingtown Fire Department with a search detail along the Brandywine River.
