July 15, 2022

This morning Officers of the West Chester Borough Fire Department, WCFD’s Fame Fire Co. No. 3 and the Chester County Rescue Task Force (CCRTF) were joined by Corporate Sponsors, Elected Officials, and the news media at the West Chester Fire Training Center for a demonstration of new DJI Matrice 30T Drone recently placed into service.

The new equipment was purchased through generous corporate sponsorships from the following companies: Bentley Systems, Dan Koval, Sartomer/Arkema, Len Mazzanti, Moose Meadows Charitable Fund, Ray Bentley and Daniels Consulting Engineers, LLC, Dave Daniels.

The DJI Matrice Drone weighs 8 lbs. and is approximately 2 ft in diameter. It flies 50 mph and can fly in rain. The drone has a thermal infrared camera and 200x zoom camera. It will assist our volunteers with search and rescue details, collapse incidents, at fire incidents and many more responses.
